Dies ist absolut mein photographisches Lieblingsprojekt!
Die Idee ist sehr einfach. Auf meinen Reisen durch Südostasien habe ich immer wieder festgestellt, daß die Menschen auf dem Land kaum Bilder aus Ihrer Jugendzeit besitzen. Ich reise deshalb mit dem Zug, Motorrad oder Fahrrad abseits der Touristenströme durch das Land, nur mit meiner Kameraausrüstung, einem kleinen Reisedrucker und kistenweise Photopapier ausgestattet, um Portraitphotos von Jugendlichen und Kindern zu machen. Die Photos drucke ich dann direkt vor Ort aus und verschenke sie an die Kinder oder Mütter. Die glücklichen Augen der Kinder sind Belohnung genug für all die Mühen der Reise. Der Gedanke, daß diese Bilder noch in vielen Jahren von den Familien, an einem besonderen Platz, aufbewahrt werden, und die Menschen sich an die schönen Momente der Jugend erinnern werden ist einfach befriedigend. Die Freude die mir dieses Projekt bereitet gleicht Vieles aus was ich harten Alltagsleben der menschen sonst so Photographiere und zu sehen bekomme.
The project idea is very simple: I travel the rural regions in Myanmar far away from the tourist tracks. On a small motorbike I am able to reach even the smallest farm in the middle of nowhere. Here I get in contact with the farmer, carpenter, fisherman,...I shoot portraits of children and young adults and print out the photos with a travel printer on the spot. The smile of the children when they receive their free prints is priceless.
I started this project in 2011 in Myanmar and it has been fun, fun, fun ever since.
In 2013 I had to take a break due to some health issues. But in 2014 - 2015 the project is going to be continued. With your donation you can keep the small printer running and the project alive. The smile of the children will be our mutual reward. I put 100% of the donations in to the purchasing of the materials for the project. There is no useless administration consuming donation resources!
